what we hold close / what we let go

Solo exhibition at the Catskill Art Society

The theme of what we hold close/ what we let go is memory. Memory is never an exact replay of what actually happened but instead consists of random translucent scraps of occurrences laid out side by side or layered on top of one another. I recreate this feeling in my assemblages, collages, wall sculptures and found materials, exploring how objects and images evoke the places I have lived and the moments I have lived through. Upcycled objects are altered and repurposed but still retain enough of their original elements to suggest their prior history. By placing these transformed objects into a dialog with my artwork, I am creating a fragmented narrative of memories that are significant to me.To read more about the exhibition
